Nema for Sales to customer success handoff

Carry the promised outcomes into customer onboarding.

Give the success team a reviewable starting point without asking sales to retell the deal. Nema organizes approved records while both owners confirm terms and expectations.

An example in Slack Illustrative

@Nema, prepare the customer-success handoff from the approved deal notes, contract summary, and our handoff checklist. Separate confirmed commitments from sales context and flag missing owners or dates.

Customer handoff checklist

  • The approved summary names weekly reporting as the customer's first outcome.
  • Sales committed to a kickoff plan by October 6; the account owner is named.
  • The customer has not identified a technical contact for data access.
  • The contract and call note show different start dates for sales to resolve.

A starting point for your team's review.

Collect the approved deal record

Start with the signed or approved commercial summary, relevant deal notes, known stakeholders, and the team's handoff requirements. Keep informal sales commentary separate from customer-facing commitments. If the Slack channel includes people who should not see commercial terms, provide a limited summary instead.

Ask Nema to preserve dates and sources. A promise mentioned in a call and a term in the final agreement may not carry the same authority.

Organize around customer outcomes

The handoff should explain what the customer wants to accomplish, how the team expects to recognize progress, and what must happen next. It can include agreed deliverables, dependencies, milestone dates, participants, and open questions.

Avoid turning vague enthusiasm into a measurable commitment. If the notes say the customer wants a faster process but do not define faster, list the intended outcome and ask the success manager to establish a baseline during onboarding.

Surface gaps before kickoff

Nema can compare the records with the handoff checklist and flag missing technical contacts, unclear responsibilities, unconfirmed timing, or terms that need interpretation. It should not assign an owner merely because that role usually handles the task.

Conflicts deserve explicit review. When a sales note promises one date and the approved summary shows another, both should remain visible until the account owner resolves them.

Confirm the transfer in Slack

Sales and customer success review the draft together. The sales owner confirms deal history and commitments. The success owner accepts the handoff, adds onboarding questions, and names the next action. Nema can then produce a clean checklist for the kickoff team.

This workflow prepares the transfer. It does not provision the product, change contract terms, or send customer communication without an authorized person.

Start with one closed deal

Choose a deal with complete records and a scheduled kickoff. Run the handoff checklist, compare every commitment with its source, and ask the incoming owner what was missing. Use those findings to improve the checklist for future accounts.

Questions from revenue teams

Which document wins when records conflict?

Follow your commercial authority rules. Nema can show the conflict and sources, while the accountable owner confirms the controlling record.

Can customers see the handoff?

Prepare a separate customer-facing version after internal review. Do not expose private notes, pricing discussion, or account strategy.

Who owns missing tasks?

Leave them unassigned until sales and customer success agree. A handoff is complete when the receiving owner accepts the work, not when a name is guessed.
