Nema for Cash-flow briefs

Prepare the cash discussion with timing assumptions visible.

Give finance a concise view of expected cash movement without hiding the inputs. Nema organizes supplied records while finance reconciles balances and owns every forecast judgment.

An example in Slack Illustrative

@Nema, prepare the next eight weeks of cash discussion from the opening balance, receipts, payments, and approved assumptions. Reconcile the inputs, label scenarios, and list questions for finance.

Cash movement brief

  • Opening cash from the supplied record is $640,000 as of September 30.
  • The base case includes a $95,000 receipt on October 18; collection timing is unconfirmed.
  • Finance needs to resolve a $12,400 difference between payment files.

A starting point for your team's review.

Establish the opening point

Give Nema the approved opening balance, its date, included accounts, currency rules, and the records for expected receipts and payments. The finance owner should reconcile the starting figure before the brief projects movement from it.

State the forecast horizon and time buckets. Weekly and monthly views answer different timing questions.

Classify movements by confidence

Ask Nema to separate confirmed payments, scheduled obligations, expected receipts, and assumptions. Each material item should include an amount, date, source, and confidence category defined by finance.

A sales forecast is not the same as a receivable. An invoice due date is not a guaranteed collection date. Keep these distinctions visible instead of blending every inflow into one number.

Show scenarios and timing

The brief can calculate a base case and approved alternatives, such as a receipt arriving two weeks late. Label every scenario and list which assumption changed. Do not present a scenario as a prediction.

Currency conversion, restricted cash, intercompany movement, and payments that appear in two exports need separate review. Nema can flag them, while finance decides the treatment.

Prepare questions for finance

Surface low points, large movements, missing dates, and unreconciled differences. Finance checks the source records and decides whether to change timing, seek more information, or take action. The Slack brief keeps those choices linked to their assumptions.

This workflow does not access bank controls, move money, or guarantee future cash. It prepares a review from records the team supplies.

Start with a short horizon

Use two or four weeks of known receipts and payments. Confirm the opening balance and manually recalculate the ending position. Add longer-range assumptions only after the near-term view reconciles.

Questions from finance teams

Is the brief a cash forecast?

It can present a forecast when finance supplies and approves the assumptions. Every scenario should state its inputs and period.

What if a receipt date is uncertain?

Label it as an assumption and show the effect of another timing case. Do not treat the due date as guaranteed cash.

Can Nema move funds or pay bills?

No bank or payment control is part of this workflow. Authorized finance staff retain those actions.

After the period closes, compare expected movements with their recorded timing. The goal is to improve the team's assumptions and source quality, not to rewrite the earlier scenario as though it predicted the final result.
