Nema for Board reporting

Prepare the operating narrative from approved business metrics.

Nema drafts the narrative from figures and operating context. Leaders own accuracy and disclosure.

An example in Slack Illustrative

@Nema, prepare the board-report draft from the approved metrics, decision log, and reporting template. Link each figure to its source, flag changed definitions, and list forward-looking statements for executive review.

Board report draft

  • September recurring revenue uses the approved finance metric and links to its dated source.
  • Customer retention cannot be trended because the cohort definition changed in July.
  • The hiring outlook is forward-looking and awaits executive approval.

A starting point for your team's review.

Begin with the approved template

Give Nema the board-report structure, reporting period, audience, approved metrics, prior report, and relevant decision records. Identify who owns each section and which material has restricted access.

The prior report provides continuity, but it should not be copied forward without checking every figure, date, and statement against current sources.

Ask Nema to show the source, period, owner, and definition for every material metric. If a formula or cohort changed, flag the break and avoid a direct trend unless finance approves a valid restatement.

Operational measures should retain their limits. Pipeline is not revenue, contracted value may not be recognized revenue, and a usage measure does not automatically prove customer value.

Connect results to decisions

The narrative should explain supported changes and the operating decisions leaders made in response. Link those decisions to their records. Keep management interpretation separate from the underlying figure so reviewers can challenge either one.

When the evidence does not establish a cause, write an investigation question rather than a confident explanation.

Review disclosure and outlook

Forward-looking statements, financial language, customer details, personnel matters, and legal topics need the appropriate executive or specialist review. Nema can collect these passages into one checklist and mark the owner.

The leadership team checks figures, narrative, audience, confidentiality, and emphasis. Nema can revise the draft after their decisions, but it does not approve or distribute board materials.

Run one section first

Choose a completed operating section with approved numbers. Recreate it from the source packet and compare every statement with the prior final report. Use differences to improve definitions and source labels before drafting the full packet.

Questions from leadership teams

Can Nema create the board deck?

It can prepare a structured draft from approved inputs. Executives and report owners review content, design, disclosures, and final distribution.

What happens when a metric changes?

Show the old and new definitions, effective date, and affected comparisons. Finance decides whether to restate prior periods.

Can Nema write the outlook?

It can draft from approved plans and assumptions. Executives validate every forward-looking statement and decide what the board should receive.

After the meeting, record approved corrections and decisions separately from the presented packet. Those records give the next reporting cycle a reliable starting point without rewriting what the board originally received.

Keep the final distributed version and its approval date available to the report owners.
